THE ROLE OF AN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IN PERFECT CONDITION
Summer or winter, the airco is essential in your car: to keep you cool when the thermostat rises, and to defog your windscreen in cold weather.
SIGNS OF WEAR / RISKS
- Every year, 20% of refrigerant gas escapes from the air conditioning system.
- There are a number of warning signs that your airco is wearing out: breakdown, insufficiently cold temperature, unpleasant odours, increased fuel consumption by your vehicle, etc.
- A poorly maintained air conditioning system presents a number of risks: apart from your vehicle consuming too much fuel, the air it sends out will be of much poorer quality. This is because the air conditioning system operates in a closed circuit, which encourages unpleasant odours due to the build-up of bacteria. Changing your cabin filter will preserve the quality of the air you breathe.
OUR EXPERT ADVICE
- Every 1 year, carry out a check-up and change the cabin filter.
- Every 2 years, recharge the air conditioning system.
- Every 4 years, replace the dehydrating filter.
How to use your air conditioning system :
- In summer: After parking in the sun, open the windows and set the ventilation system to medium speed with the air conditioning on. Once the overheated air has been evacuated, close the windows and select air recirculation for a few minutes. This will cool the cabin more quickly.
- In winter: Use your air conditioning by regulating the temperature using the heating control. Air conditioning removes humidity from the air and helps to demist the windows.
